Welcome to International Community School

Where students are trained to become learners and leaders through the strengths of a Christian faith, family engagement, and a challenging learning environment. ICS is a learning environment unlike any other. Our hybrid model combines the most current educational research and practices into one unique school built on the three pillars of faith, family and scholarship.

ICS is built on five core values: Faith Family Scholarship Partnership Community

Faith

ICS is distinctively Christian, building our educational, civic, and moral training on the person, work, and world of Jesus Christ.

Family

ICS believes that families are the primary source of training for children, developing educational choices with the goal of supporting, encouraging, and engaging the family in the learning process.

Scholarship

ICS combines the best in educational practice with a global and moral perspective, offering rigorous academics that equip both mind and heart. ICS trains not just learners, but leaders-citizens who are ready to challenge and change our world with ideas and actions.

Partnership

ICS’s philosophy is built on the idea that the best education emerges by fostering complementary relationships in the learning process. To accomplish this, we engage with families to support and equip them in their educational goals we, encourage families to partner with teachers, and we offer opportunities for students to connect with resources and locations outside the school to broaden their world view.

Community

ICS has community at the center of our name, our structure, and our heart. By bringing diverse perspectives, traditions, and cultures together around the common goals of building the church, strengthening the family, developing well-trained minds through rigorous academics, fostering responsible citizenship and meeting the practical needs of the community both locally and globally, our faith becomes action, and we are challenged to become more like Christ. This is the very heart of ICS.

Our Mission

ICS will educate and equip students to bring Christ to the world by engaging culture biblically with their hearts, minds, and hands.

Our Vision

ICS exists to prepare students to become learners and leaders through the strengths of a common Christian faith, family engagement, and a challenging learning environment.

Educational Philosophy

A Sound Education is a Christian Education

There is ultimately no knowledge that is incompatible with the truths of the Christian faith, and a comprehensive education is based on a biblical worldview.

Family Engagement is Foundational to Learning Success

Parental involvement makes a critical difference in the life of the learner.

A Moral Foundation is Necessary for Exemplary Scholarship

The partnership between parent and teacher to provide moral training develops an ethical core that gives learning its purpose.

The Learning Environment Should Encourage Questions, Critical Thinking and the Pursuit of Truth

International Community School values inquiry-based learning that develops thinking skills and respect for diverse points of view.

A Solid Academic Framework is Based on Developmental Stages of Learning

Students at International Community School progress from concrete knowledge of skills and facts to logic and integration of information and ideas, finally mastering abstract thinking, communication and defense of knowledge.

Experience and Service are Critical Extensions of Academics

Putting learning into practice is a key balance to classroom study, and must be taught with a theology and ethic of work.

All Christian Students Should be Trained for a Life of Ministry

Encouraging a life of service to God and others is essential to faith-based education, regardless of the vocation pursued at its conclusion.

Is ICS Right for You?

  • Do you and your spouse have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
  • Are you disciplining your child to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
  • Do you and your family attend church weekly and are you actively involved in Christian ministry?
  • Would your family be in agreement with our Statement of Faith and be able to sign it?
  • Do you believe that parent involvement is an integral part of education?
  • Does our tuition fit in your family’s budget?
  • Is one parent able to stay home on Mondays and Wednesdays for home instruction days?
  • Do you have time in your schedule to Parent Partner in the classroom (an average of 3 times per semester)?
  • Would both parents be able to complete the required parenting course within the first semester? (PK-5th Grade: 12 Week Course, 6th-12th Grade: Book with Questions)
  • Is your child able to learn on an advanced track, without the use of multiple learning aids?
  • Does your student have a record without any suspensions, expulsions, drug use, criminal charges, or violent behavior?

If you answered yes to all of the questions above, it is possible that ICS is the school for you.

International Community School Academics

Education at ICS provides one of the most vital ingredients in a successful learning program – community. Through our regular parent meetings, parent partnerships, and shared values, you will be surrounded by a community of people who are working and praying alongside you to help accomplish your educational goals for your child.

Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade academics combine a regular schedule of classes taught by professional educators with alternate home education days. Curriculum and lesson plans are set by the classroom teacher, giving you the opportunity to be involved directly in your child’s education without the direct responsibility of planning your curriculum choices and your home education days.

Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd Grade

Academic classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays for PK-4 through 3rd grade students. Our Friday enrichment program, E-Zone, is optional for these students.

4th through 8th Grade

Students in 4th through 8th grade attend academic classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Our Friday enrichment program, E-Zone, is mandatory for these students.

High School

High School students meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in a university-style program that includes both core academics and electives. These students also enjoy opportunities for dual enrollment at several local colleges.

  • Seminole State College
  • Valencia College
  • Daytona State College
  • UCF
  • Lake Sumter State College

Statement of Faith

The Scriptures  –  Webelieve that God inspired all the words of the Bible without error in the original writings.  The Bible constitutes the only infallible and sufficient rule of faith and practice.  We accept the Bible, including the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament, as the written Word of God.  The Bible is an essential and infallible record of God’s self-disclosure to mankind.

God – We believe that there is but one living and true God, perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ – We believe in the full deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His real humanity, His sinless life, His substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present ministry as high priest and His future personal return to this earth.

The Holy Spirit – We believe in the full deity of the Holy Spirit, who convicts sinners and regenerates those who believe in Christ.  He also indwells, sanctifies, instructs, and empowers believers for service, and seals them unto the day of redemption.  We believe that every believer is indwelt and baptized by the Spirit at the time of salvation.  We believe being filled with the Spirit or walking in the Spirit is living in the conscious presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, letting His mind, through the Word, dominate everything that is thought and done.

Man – We believe that God created all things as described in Genesis.  We believe that the first man, Adam, sinned, bringing spiritual death to all mankind, who therefore stand condemned, making the new birth absolutely necessary.

Salvation – We believe that salvation is wholly of God by grace on the basis of the redemption of Jesus Christ, the merit of His shed blood, and not on the basis of human merit or works.  God gives eternal life to those who repent of their sins, and put their faith in Christ alone, justifying them instantaneously by the blood of Christ and imputing His righteousness to them.

The Church – We believe in the universal church to which all believers belong.  We believe in the importance of the local church, which is made up of believers who gather for worship, fellowship, and teaching.  We believe in the responsibility of the church to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ, preaching the gospel to all nations.

The Future – We believe in the eternal existence of the soul, resurrection of the body, eternal blessedness of believers, and eternal punishment of unbelievers.

Christian Living – We believe we are called to be salt and light.  We believe as Christians we are called to reclaim His world and to be agents of renewal and restoration.  Parents are given the responsibility of raising and training their children in the Christian faith.  We believe that the Family unit is designed by God and that the Creator’s intent for human sexuality finds its fulfillment between a man and a woman within the bond of a marriage covenant.

We ask that members of our administration, faculty, and staff teach and proclaim only those doctrines in agreement with our Statement of Faith.  We desire to glorify God by being zealous about the things that truly build up the body of Christ and clearly communicate the gospel of Christ, speaking the truth in love.
